5 weeks practice cycle

The classes are organized in small groups of 5-6 persons and a 5 weeks cycle to allow optimal progression of students.

1st Week of the cycle

Standing positions

The standing poses are the basis for all the other asanas and play an important role in Iyengar yoga practice. They bring balance and stability and correct the physical body by providing the basic principles of movement. Standing postures enhance body and mind agility and lightness.

2nd Week of the cycle

Forward extensions and twisting poses

Forward extensions have a calming effect. They refresh the mind, eliminate fatigue and calm the nerves. Twisting poses activate kidneys and help eliminate toxins.

3rd Week of the cycle

Backward extensions

By opening the chest; the backward extensions stimulate the lungs and strengthen the heart.  The spine becomes more supple and, with regular practice, the pain in the sacrum and lumbar areas disappear. Those extensions improve digestive system functioning, have energizing effect, and fight against depression.

4th Week of the cycle

Balance poses

Balance poses are more advanced as they require proper body weight distribution and leverage the learnings from the other poses. They provide stability, harmony and peacefulness.

5th Week of the cycle

Restorative Asanas and Pranayama

Restorative Asanas rejuvenate the body. Pranayama regulate the breathing and thereby control the emotional state. Pranayama practise allows lungs capacity increase and their optimal ventilation, calm the nerves as well as stimulate all body systems. Pranayama prepares for the next step of Yoga which is pratyahara.
